Working the 11am-8pm shift can be taxing, but if you pace yourself, and keep busy, one can make it out alive. I have working 2nd or 3rd shifts most of my professional life, so I am no stranger to this. But today, I made a rookie mistake that I will pay for the remainder of my shift.
Today was the company Christmas lunch. Tables and tables of delicious food... as far as the eye can see. I walked up, and filled my plate with my personal favorites: Stuffing, mac and cheese, stuffing, dirty rice, stuffing, garlic mashed potatoes, and of course... stuffing. Well, At the end of the line was a huge turkey. Normally, I ignore the turkey and just get a plate of stuffing, but what the heck? It's the holidays. I got some turkey to go with my overflowing plate of holiday goodness. Well, I get back to my seat, and proceed to go through that plate like a Ralphie May comedy special (Messy, way too fast, and just not pretty on the eyes).
About an hour later, during a call... it hits...
The itis!
I am now basically a grizzly bear after getting shot with a tranquilizer dart. Everything is in slow-motion, everyone is slurring their speech (I think), and I just want to crawl under my desk and take a nap.
I still have 4 more hours left of my shift...
Pray for me.
